"Christian" has fallen in love with the world.(1 John 2:15)
"Christian" looks like the world, thinks like the world, and acts like the world. (Romans 12:2)
"Christian" and even "born again" is synonymous with hypocrite. (Matthew 23:25-28)
Do we need a reformation? |

This may lead to perpetual calls for reformation, with Christians denouncing other Christians as non-Christians, or less-than Christians, or in-need-of-reform Christians.
Those who do not recognize hypocrisy in themselves can sometimes be the most hypocritical. |

that is an understatement.
I think the main thing really is that we/I need to repent. As "Christian(s)." |

Can't we just get on with being thoroughly decent people WITHOUT all the piety? |

Also piety has a hypocritical connotation in my mind even if it should not. |

As early as right after Jesus when Paul sent his letters to the various churches, there was a need for Reformation. When the Lord returns, His comments to the seven churches indicates most will be found in dire need of Reformation.
Its not surprising since we are human and prone to error. Thats why we need Godly guidance & discernment and to study the Word of God; the Bible.
Knowing the Bible is one thing, but is nothing without guidance of the Holy Spirit and discernment. As indicted in post # 1 (Matthew 23:25-28), our Lord found that the most learned of religious folks were themselves the one's most hypocritical and in need of repentance the most, let alone reformation. |
